Ultra-thin Lasik Flaps at Higher Risk for Haze

June 6, 2009

An article in AJO demonstrated that thin (90 micron) flaps using femtosecond laser in Lasik are associated with higher risk of haze, and the risk is higher with younger age. Interestingly, the vision was still normal, although significant light scattering was shown. The authors recommend at least 100 micron flaps and that perhaps Mitomycin use and/or pre-op steroids should be entertained.
