Glaucoma Today: Iridoschisis is a rare condition where the anterior and posterior layers of the iris split apart- it looks almost like a phaco injury. The iris strands- usually inferiorly-can come loose and clog up the trabecular meshwork, and the patient can have wildly fluctuating pressures and subsequent glaucoma. It is also associated with chronic angle closure.
