Capsulorhexis Tear-Out Retrieval
March 9, 2009
Have you seen or read about this new way of retrieving a tear-out? When I first saw the video, I cringed, but from what I hear, it may actually work. It seems counter-intuitive, as one has to tear backwards, but somehow, the tear comes back! I wish I had seen this two weeks ago when I lost the capsulorhexis in a dense white cataract. I converted to ECCE and the case ended up well without vitreous loss. I also forgot that I had a micro-forceps somewhere in my tray that I bought a couple of years ago. Next time, I will do the rhexis with those forceps- less likely to run into trouble. Anyway, you can see the maneuver on Youtube, or check out this article.
