Acufocus Kamra is a corneal implant which creates a pinhole effect (the pinhole effect explains why we see better when we squint), which affords patients good reading vision without glasses. Since it requires a flap to be made in the cornea, it can be combined with Lasik, to correct distance vision. Precise centration is critical for this device to work, and computer guided systems help the surgeon. The latest results from Tokyo are very encouraging- 92% of patients are glasses-free and very happy.
