Ophthalmology: Researchers conducted a head to head study comparing the effectiveness of the Ahmed glaucoma valve to the Baerveldt glaucoma implant in glaucoma surgery. The Baerveldt got lower pressure (13.2 vs 15.4), but had more complications (34% vs. 20%), like loss of 2 lines of vision. This research should help glaucoma surgeons decide which is best for their patient.
