Contrary to what one would expect intuitively, one can still expect the cornea to clear after DSAEK-type procedure where the transplanted Descemet’s/endothelium dislocates. The authors in this month’s AJO speculate that endothelial cells somehow migrate to cover the exposed host cornea. The authors discuss a few cases where this happened, and they therefore suggest that one may consider watchful waiting instead of taking the patient back to the O.R. for re-positioning.
