An article in a recent issue of AJO describes the experience with PermaVision, a contact lens-like material that is sandwiched in the corneal stroma using a femtosecond laser guided flap. Results were poor, with many patients requesting the implant be removed. One patient suffered a corneal melt. It looks like it’s back to the drawing board for this one.
