Fluocinolone Acetonide Insert Effective For Diabetic Retinopathy

May 12, 2011

Archives: In yet what seems another nail in the coffin for laser, the sustained release fluocinolone insert was very effective in patients who are status post at least one laser session. Incisional glaucoma surgery was necessary in 3.7%, which is really not as bad as I had suspected, as anecdotally, it seemed the incidence was higher. Inserting the device, unlike Retisert, is an out-patient non-surgical procedure, so I suspect it will gain more traction.
