Late Capsular Block Due to Propionibacterium Acnes

February 20, 2011

Archives: An interesting case study- several patients presented with some blurred vision-no pain- and were found to have a swollen posterior capsule, filled with fluid and milky debris, due to capsular block. A needle was introduced through the pars plana and the fluid evacuated, and they grew out P. Acnes! Vancomycin was injected into the bag, and all patients did very well.
