Can Cholesterol Drugs Slow Progression of Diabetic Retinopathy?

The ACCORD study shows that intensive reduction of blood sugar, when combined with fenofibrate and simvastatin to improve blood lipids, produced the best results for diabetic retinopathy. This confirms what ophthalmologists have suspected clinically.
