How Soon Will Floaters Disappear After YAG Laser Treatment?

December 18, 2010

I had the YAG surgery a little over two months ago and the floaters are still annoying me.  I was told to give it some time.

How much time is reasonable and what, if anything, can be done to eliminate them?

those floaters can last a lifetime, but more commonly 6 months. The YAG can be used again to treat the floaters if they really bother you. Speak with your ophthalmologist.

The floaters can persist over 1 year and even longer. Ask your doctor about “prednisolone” eye drops. But let the eye pressure be checked.

prednisolone drops would be helpful if the floaters were due to inflammation. but inflammation is rare a few days after the laser, and the complaint from inflammation is usually pain/blurred vision, not floaters, so i humbly disagree with the prednisolone drops.
