Can a Congenital Cataract in 14 Day Old Baby Boy be Treated With Stem Cells?

December 1, 2010

Can a congenital cataract be treated with stem cells? The patient is a baby boy, 14 days old, and cataract progressed in left eye, and onset in right eye as well. Rest of the tests on the infant has shown good results (blood work, urine test, 2-d-echo cardio).

no. cataract surgery can be very helpful and should be done as soon as the eye doctor feels the cataract is interfering with vision.
