New Compact Digital Retinal Camera From Canon Receives Clearance from FDA

November 25, 2010

Canon announced last week that its CR-2 Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera had received 510(k) clearance from the FDA.

Integrating the latest in Canon’s retinal imaging technology and enhancements, and weighing only 33 pounds, the CR-2 retinal camera can be easily installed and transported when needed. The illuminated control panel allows medical staff to easily navigate operations in darkened rooms. Contributing to a lower total-cost-of-ownership, the white LED lamp used in the CR-2 retinal camera uses less power than a xenon tube and lasts approximately twice as long, which can help to reduce energy costs in medical facilities.
