In this month’s AJO, researchers noted a 15.8% incidence of retinal breaks in 25g macular surgery, often unrelated to the sclerotomies. This is higher than anticipated. They advise careful 360 degree inspection at the end of the case. Fortunately, rate of retinal detachment was low at 1.7%
