Implantable Miniature Telescope for Dry ARMD

July 12, 2009

The implantable miniature telescope has been proven to improve the vision of those with severe ARMD by projecting a much larger image on the macula. It seems to require a larger incion, but a minimal amount of astigmatism is certainly not an issue with this patient population. It seems promising, if it can be approved, as it is very expensive, and one has to wonder, in this medical economic climate, whether health plans will go along.
