Can Travoprost/Timolol Combination Improve Medication Compliance in Glaucoma Patients?

A presentation at the Canadian Ophthalmological Society showed that using a combination of Travoprost/Timolol once daily in patients with glaucoma may improve compliance in these patients. More than half of the patients noted that the new dosing regimen of once-daily was much more or somewhat more convenient than their previous regimens.

The prospective, multicenter, open-label DuoTrav Adjunctive Therapy Evaluation (DATE) study evaluated 365 patients with POAG or ocular hypertension. The IOP was evaluated both at baseline and at 30 days. The researchers noted a significant decrease in IOP in the study patients. Thirty-one percent of participants also stated that they missed a dose less often than with previous regimens.
