Longer Eyes Protective In Diabetic Macular Edema

Ophthalmology: It has been known for a while that myopia confers protection somehow in diabetic retinopathy. Researchers were able to look at data and confirm that it was the axial length (as opposed to corneal curvature or lens-related myopia) that was responsible for that association. Perhaps the decrease in blood flow and decreased capillary pressure associated with axial length is the mechanism.
