Christopher S. Jordan, MD, Performs First Intralase Enhanced Keratoplasty (IEK) in Northeastern United States

Dr. Christopher S. Jordan, a third generation ophthalmologist, and cornea, refractive and cataract surgeon, has performed the first laser assisted corneal transplant in the Northeastern United States in Scranton, Pennsylvania at the Northeastern Eye Institute. The procedure, called Intralase Enhanced Keratoplasty (IEK), applies laser technology developed for LASIK surgery for corneal transplantation.

The primary advantages of IEK are the ability of the surgeon to individually customize the incisions to each patient, and faster and stronger wound healing, which yields superior visual results.
