Inlays, Onlays, Rings & Things

For those of you interested in the history of ophthalmology, I would like to direct you to two columns I wrote on the above subjects. The first, published in the May 1990 issue of Ophthalmology Management, discussed what I had seen at the 1990 ASCRS Meeting, held in Los Angeles that year. (I also liked the title!) I covered epi-inlays, epi-onlays, and injectable accommodating silicone and collagen lenses.

Then, in the July 15, 2000 issue of Ocular Surgery News, I updated the first story with part two, ten years later. This was a review of what I saw at the 2000 ASCRS Meeting, held in Boston. The updates included the collamer ICL and the PermaVision ICL (NutraPore); an onlay from MedRx, some information about expansion of the KeraVision Intacs range; and what was new (then) in laser systems, including from IntraLase.
