Reversal of Lamina Cribosa Detected After Trabeculectomy

Ophthalmology: Scientists have always suspected that in glaucoma, there is a bowing backwards of the lamina which in turn damages the nerve fibers in the optic nerve. It was suggested that the dramatic lowering of IOP would reverse that displacement. Scientists have demonstrated this nicely using SD-OCT. They also noted an increase in pre-laminar tissue as well. It’s nice when technology confirms our clinical suspicions.
