Cool Eye Findings In Astronauts

Posted By Dr. Ari Weitzner On November 2, 2011 @ 5:41 am In Retina | No Comments

Ophthalmology: Researchers had the opportunity to conduct MRI’s and OCT on astronauts who had completed space missions (at zero gravity), and they found that many of them had optic nerve head swelling, cotton wool spots, choroidal folds, flattening of the globe and hyperopic shifts, all of which resolved. They suggest that the zero gravity causes a cephalad fluid shift in the spinal fluid.  So all you billionaires out there who are planning on space flights- no worries.
