Does Taking Aspirin Daily Increase the Risk of Macular Degeneration?

Researchers at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience and Academic Medical Center have recently published a study in Ophthalmology showing that seniors who take aspirin daily are twice as likely to have late stage macular degeneration than people who never take the pain reliever.
Importantly, the data does not show that aspirin causes vision loss. Indeed, the researchers found no ingredient in aspirin that could cause macular degeneration. Still, the findings have raised concerns that aspirin could somehow exacerbate the eye disorder.
