ForeseeHome AMD Monitor Saves Eye Sight of Patient With Macular Degeneration
September 14, 2011
In late August, a news station based in Maryland described how the ForeseeHome AMD Monitor from Notal Vision saved the eye sight of a patient suffering from macular degeneration.
The patient, Elizabeth Santee, began using the ForeseeHome at the recommendation of her retina specialist, Dr. Richard Garfinkel, an ophthalmologist in the Washington DC area.
After about a month of using the device, Elizabeth and her doctor received an alert detecting an abnormality that Elizabeth would not have detected herself. Subsequently, Elizabeth had three months of treatment and now doctors have her AMD under control. Elizabeth says she feels the early detection saved her eye sight.

Readers with dry AMD with a risk of progressing to wet AMD may wish to discuss the monitor with their treating ophthalmologist.
