Spectral Domain Beats Time Domain In Evaluation of Retinal Nerve Fiber Progression

Ophthalmology: Researchers compared two OCT modalities (both manufactured by Zeiss)- spectral domain (Cirrus) and time domain (Stratus) in nerve fiber progression analysis in glaucoma. Progression was detected in 22 vs. 4 of 128 eyes in the Cirrus and Stratus respectively. This confirms what many specialists have long suspected- that spectral domain is superior.
