What is Incidence of Permanent Vision Loss after Trabeculectomy to Treat Glaucoma?

The latest issue of the Archives of Ophthalmology reports on a study to assess the risk of long-term vision loss after trabeculectomy and to determine the course of long-term vision loss vs transient loss and recovery.
The study concluded that transient vision loss after trabeculectomy is common and may take up to 2 years for recovery, whereas the risk of permanent vision loss is less common but significant, and typically due to certain identifiable risk factors.
