Capsular Bag Implantation

Posted By Dr. Ari Weitzner On August 8, 2011 @ 5:10 am In Cataract | Comments Disabled

I saw a video at the OSN site where a surgeon harvested a capsular bag, stained it with Tryptan blue, inserted it into the posterior chamber and then fixated it to the sclera using two paper clip-like anchors. Results were promising. It sure looks like a lot of work to reduce the relatively small risk associated with the lack of an intact bag. Makes more sense, I think, to create an artificial barrier and place the IOL in the sulcus on top of it.
