   steroids are the main treatment. it cannot reverse damage done-only prevent the second eye from getting damaged. patients who cannot tolerate steroids may be helped by anti-metabolites like methotrexate, cyclosporin etc., but there is little data on those.

   Can anyone put me in touch with bloggers (or just plain people) who would like to chare information and research possibilities regarding central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO)? I have recently suffered loss of sight in left eye from CRAO and want to pursue treatment possibilities for restoration of sight.

   i am not familiar with any.
   please understand that a crao is identical to a stroke- once the tissue dies, it cannot be restored. the only thing that conceivably could help would be stem cell, and that technology is decades away. the only thing we can do now is to lower the risk of crao (lower blood pressure, cholesterol, active lifestlye). of course, commiserating with others always helps, and i wish you good luck in finding others.
