Yag Laser Can Resolve Epinuclear Chips After Phaco

Ocular Surgery News:  You gotta love the YAG. Epinuclear chips left over in the anterior chamber are utterly frustrating after a nice phaco- they lead to corneal decompensation, inflammation and glaucoma, and typically one has to go back to the O.R. and flush it out. The patient thinks you are an idiot- how could you leave a piece of cataract behind?? A surgeon, Dr. Khaliq, has lasered the chips (up to 3mm in size) with a few shots of YAG, and the eye resorbed it in a few days. Beautiful. Thanks, Dr. Khaliq- I never would have thought of that.
