Astigmatism In Children After Cataract Surgery

In an article in the Journal of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, researchers noted that although there was significant astigmatism (typically 6 diopters) in post-op large incision cataract surgery in kids, it disappeared by three months. The authors speculate that the elastic sclera in kids is more stretchable and therefore it stretches in response to tight sutures.
