DSEK Compares Favorably With Conventional Corneal Transplant

Archives: Surgical technique continues to improve for Descemet’s Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK). A five year study demonstrated a similar graft survival rate and endothelial cell loss rate to conventional penetrating keratoplasty (PK). DSEK is a superior procedure with a very quick recovery and less risk of rejection, but early attempts noted very high cell loss. Recent advances in technique are bearing fruit.
