Fungal Infection of Lids Under-diagnosed

Archives: A study suggested that fungal infection of the periorbital skin by fungus (tinea orbitale) is often overlooked and misdiagnosed, primarily because the appearance is so varied. Things to look for are scaling and loss of lashes, and little response to topical steroid. I would probably suggest referral to a dermatologist if these conditions are present, as treatment can take weeks and requires oral anti-fungals
