Is Confocal Microscope Helpful in Diagnosing Fungal Keratitis?

January 9, 2011

Ophthalmology: Confocal microscopy had very good specificity and sensitivity in identifying fungal filaments in fungal and Acanthamoeba keratitis. Diagnosis is often difficult with this microorganism, and it seems corneal specialists have another good reason to buy this machine, to help us improve the odds of recovery in this difficult disease.

I am trying to look for a doctor that can test for amoeba in the eyes, or refer me to a doctor that can help in Arizona. I was told that I would need to travel to California to get tested before treatment can begin. I am quite sure there are doctors here (Arizona) that can help me.
