AJO: Intravitreal plasmin was effective in causing a PVD, improving retinal thickness and vision after branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Yet another drug in our arsenal to fight vascular disease in the eye. Only one injection was required. PVD (posterior vitreous detachment) is often helpful in vascular disease- reduces traction (thus decreasing leakage) and can stop neovascularization (as the neovascularization needs the attached vitreous face upon which to proliferate).
