Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) For Dry Eye?

From EyeNet: Dr. Toyos has noted some success treating dry eye with IPL. The mechanism appears to be similar to its success in skin disease- it creates significant superficial heat. In other words, it’s like a great warm compress. The heat allows for better oily secretions from glands- this oil keeps the tear film stable. The heat also closes those small superficial blood vessels at the lid margin, making the lids look better. Better studies will show whether it’s really better than warm compresses and worth the cost.
