Can ORange Wavefront Aberrometry Reduce Enhancement Rates in Cataract Surgery?

Dr. Mark Packer has noted an enhancement rate of only 3% in his cataract and refractive lens surgery practice using the ORange intraoperative aberrometer (from WaveTec Vision), which provides wavefront-guided refraction on patients during cataract (or lens exchange) surgery (that is, in layman’s terms, it measures the prescription of the eye while the patient is still on the operating table). This compares to an enhancement rate of 18% using limbal relaxing incisions based on preoperative measurements.

I think patients will be willing to pay a premium for this technology when they undergo cataract/refractive surgery.
