Can Silicone Oil Reduce Complications In Radiation Treatment of Eye Cancer?

In UCLA, researchers came up with a great idea to reduce the effect of radiation when treating the eye for cancer. By removing the vitreous and replacing it with silicone oil, the oil absorbs about half the radiation. There are some complications, like cataract and possible retinal detachment, but it may be worth it.
