preservative-free may be slightly less irritating to the eye, but i think many still inject the regular kind, as the irritation is pretty rare. but given a choice, i think most of us prefer the preservative-free. otherwise they are identical.
one can have unlimited injections unless side effects stop it, like glaucoma or infection.
if steroid, avastin and lucentis do not help, one can consider radiation (this is pretty new) or older technology like photodynamic therapy, or perhaps steroid implants like ozurdex.
