Iris Claw Lens vs. Iris-Fixated PC IOL – Which is Better?

An article in Ophthalmology compared the iris claw lens to a foldable iris-fixated lens in eyes with inadequate capsular support. It basically found no difference. In fact, dislocation was more common with the latter. That’s nice to hear, as implanting a PC IOL with iris fixation sutures is much more technically challenging. This reminds me of a few studies that noted that AC IOL’s were also comparable to PC sutured IOL’s. It’s nice when the older, simpler method turns out to be just as good.
