The Outpatient Surgery Magazine website recently reported on a study published in the March/April issue of the Brazilian Archives of Ophthalmology, in which researchers showed that irrigating the conjunctiva with a povidone-iodine prepping solution prior to cataract surgery can help to prevent the incidence of endophthalmitis.
