Post-natal Baby Weight Gain Predicts ROP

In Archives, an important study noted that longitudinal post-natal weight gain predicted with 100% sensitivity which babies would ultimately suffer ROP. This is great news, as now, we screen so many babies to catch ROP, which is a considerable burden to ophthalmologists and on society as cost. ROP checks in rural areas are getting increasingly difficult. So, if we can severely limit the number of babies who need to be screened, everyone wins. It turns out only 25% of babies needed ROP treatment, and they were picked up by the weight algorithim.
