CSF Important Clue in Glaucoma

In February’s Ophthalmology, researchers confirm what has been shown and suspected- that CSF pressure is much lower in normal tension glaucoma, and that the pressure differential across the lamina is much greater in normal tension and high tension glaucoma compared with normal. This differential may very well cause the bowing of the optic nerve head and is probably an important cause of glaucoma. CAI’s may very well be contraindicated in glaucoma, as it reduces CSF pressure.
