What is Normal Vision After Cataract Surgery?

December 21, 2009

I just had cataract surgery. I am curious what is normal vision after such surgery.

Had cataract surgery on left eye 2 months ago (mono lense) and on right eye 4 days ago (mono lense). My distant vision in the left has not been good at all, but I can read with it without glasses. My distant vision in the right eye is EXCELLENT and reading is a little blurry. Why the difference? Doc says it is a healing process. Huh??? I do have Fuchs’ Dystrophy and left eye was worse and had also had laser retinal repair of small hole. My corneas are in good shape, tho, and may never need transplant or DSAEK. This doc doesn’t routinely do cell counts, tho, so don’t know what the cell count is since cataract surgery. I just wish distant vision was good in both eyes.

if you had a standard implant, and the surgery had no complications, and your eyes otherwise are normal, then you should be 20/20 at distance (perhaps with glasses), and you will need reading glasses.
