Is LASIK Safe for Endothelium?

A study recently reported in the Archives of Ophthalmology found that laser surgery to correct refractive errors had no long-term detrimental effects on the corneal endothelium. Specifically, the mean annual rate of endothelial cell loss after surgery, at 0.6%, was the same as the age-related physiologic cell loss seen in normal corneas. This should put to rest this issue, which has had conflicting answers in the past. Read more [1] on MedPage Today.
