Staining ILM With Blood Instead of Dye

An article in Ophthalmology described a neat trick, using autologous blood on the macula after vitrectomy to help in peeling the ILM. Although dyes are used commonly, there have been a few articles suggesting it may not be 100% safe; if using blood is as effective, it may be worthwhile trying out.
