Another Bad Day for Intravit Kenalog for Diabetic Macular Edema

In this month’s Ophthalmology, another article confirmed that by six months, there was no difference between those who received Kenalog and those who received laser for diabetic macular edema, even though at 3 months, the Kenalog showed a benefit. And those who got Kenalog had more cataract and IOP. I think we have to seriously re-think how often we should administering this drug, and reserve it for those who we feel strongly will do poorly with more laser, like ischemic-looking foveas with enlarged FAZ’s perhaps.
